We are thrilled to announce the release of Louper v1.8, packed with exciting new features designed to enhance your workflow and make collaboration smoother than ever. This update brings three standout features that we’re particularly excited about: new room video layouts, a redesigned control bar that unifies all your essential tools, and drastically improved noise cancellation thanks to an integration with Krisp.
New Video Layouts: A Game Changer for Collaborative Work
We’ve introduced two new video layouts, and revised the original layout. These layouts are designed to give you greater flexibility when reviewing and discussing content with your team.
Layout 1 (Original) preserves the familiar setup, showing participants on the left side of the screen vertically. This layout makes the best use of screen space on smaller screens (like laptops) and is what existing Louper users will be most used to.
Layout 2 (Filmstrip) offers a horizontal arrangement of participants at the top, with the video content prominently displayed below, allowing for a broader view of team members without sacrificing content size. This layout lets you see more participants at once than Layout 1, while keeping your line of sight closer to the top of the screen and nearer to your webcam.
Layout 3 (Grid) transforms the room into a typical video-conferencing layout, making it ideal for users, like editors, who are viewing content in their editing software and want to see larger participant thumbnails in Louper. It allows for better visibility of reactions and expressions and is designed so that all participants will always be visible on screen, without needing to scroll.
These layouts are more than just cosmetic changes; they represent our commitment to improving how teams interact and collaborate on Louper. These layouts give you the freedom to work the way you want, and unlock the ability to use Louper for general video calls in addition to actual video content review sessions.
Controlling Layouts using Host Controls
With Host Controls, room hosts can change the video layout for all participants. Simply open the Host Controls sidebar and select one of the options in the "Change layout" section. The selected layout will immediately apply to everyone currently in the room, ensuring a consistent viewing experience across the board.
Redesigned Control Bar: Everything You Need at Your Fingertips
The new Louper control bar is a big step forward in both usability and efficiency. The old design, while functional, often felt cluttered and could slow down your workflow. Essential tools were there, but their organization wasn’t always intuitive.
The latest update changes that. The control bar now integrates video conferencing, playback, drawing tools, and more into a single, intuitive interface. This cleaner design makes it easier to access the tools you need, right when you need them.
Noise Cancellation Powered by Krisp
We know how frustrating background noise can be during sessions—whether it’s the clacking of keyboards, traffic noise, or other distractions that pull you out of focus. That’s why we’ve integrated Krisp, a leading noise cancellation technology, directly into Louper.
Krisp’s AI-driven noise cancellation technology filters out background sounds with exceptional accuracy, ensuring that your communication remains crystal clear. This is especially beneficial for teams working remotely or in open office environments where controlling noise levels can be challenging.
Why These Updates Matter
At Louper, our goal is to continuously improve your experience by listening to your feedback and anticipating your needs. The new video layouts offer greater versatility, while the enhanced noise cancellation ensures clearer communication. And with a more intuitive control bar, your room sessions will feel more fluid than ever.
These updates are not just about adding new features; they’re about refining the way you work, collaborate, and create. Louper v1.8 is a big step towards creating the ultimate video review platform.
